Deeper thinking Harakeke. Native trees.

I learnt to pick a Plant and do deeper thinking on the plant.

Facts

Deeper Thinking Native Tree (add your tree and the people in your group)

The flax is weaved by the Maori to make baskets and plates.

The natural habitat of a Harakeke is to grow on the side of waterways.

Caterpillars are threats to the Harakeke by eating the top layer then leaving it to die by the sun, that's why they are sensitive to the sun.

There is another way the Caterpillars kill the leaves, they eat bits and bits of the Harakeke so that when the sun is shown to the Harakeke will die, the Harakeke has a very thick cell wall and that's how it stops itself from dying from the sun.

Harakeke was the name given to this plant by Maori.

The first European traders called the Harakeke “flax.”
