Samoan langauge Week 29|5|2020

GAGANA SAMOA SIVA CHEOO
Today is Gagana Samoa, Samoan language week today is the  29th of may 2020 we will be dancing at 1:40 after lunch everyone from Te Wairua Pakiki whanau were practising only for two days it was really short.

Everyone in Te Wairua Pakiki were waiting nervously after lunch. They all had a turn to dance. There were four groups Maululu, Fa’ataupati, Aiuli and Sasa. Those are the dances we did for the parents, kids from takritia whanau and teachers.

Our special guests are Father Felise and our school principal Mr Coakly and our school Matai-(chief) Mr sepulona Haiosi gave a name in samoan to Mr Coakly his name is paulo lilomaiava.

After the welcoming they begin to dance and sing and they first start with the samoan national anthem. After the national anthem they began to dance. The first group was Maululu.

After them it was his group Fa'ataupati. It originated by slapping your body from mosquitoes biting your body so after they made it, they called it Fa’ataupati the slap dance.

After the boys it was Charis’ group the Sasa it was amazing the clapping loudly was the sound of a real Samoan Sasa I looked Surprised and I am a Samoan so proud of them but more proud of their leader Charis.

After the Amazing Sasa it was Tupua The mania Aiuli all the Aiuli boys dancing behind Pua saying Cheoo and Atamai everyone clapping to the rhythm of the samoan song and Pua had the Samoan dancing blade and everyone smiling and cheering.

After the Siva festival we all had a great time and after having a fun time we had a Kahoot for the rest of the day. It was short because the Siva mai was after lunch.
